My Favorite Korean Sunscreens

So, Korean tricksters, did you think that the summer is ending so it’s time to put away all the sunscreen tubes until next summer?
Think again.
First of all, there are ladies who live in the countries where winter is as far as the Chinese border.
Second of all, fall and winter are important seasons for skin rejuvenation. Because RETINOL. And without sun protection, we will all look like a herd of cute and smooth, but very spotted giraffes.

Third of all, the insidious sun rays are angry even in the winter, and sunscreens protect the skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays, prevent photoaging and the appearance of pigmentation.
So I am sharing my very favorite and very high quality products, because the most important season for sun protection is only just beginning.

Missha All Around Safe Block

If you hate strong, thick, smelly sunscreens that leave your face greasy/shiny or artistically decorated in white streaks, and you also dislike breakouts caused by sunscreens, then you will for sure love these products and make them a usual inhabitants of your cabinets.
I will start with the lightest treatment, which is quite sufficient for us northerners and also those who live in Northern Europe or central Russia.

Missha All Around Safe Block Total Moisture Sun Gel SPF 30 PA++
Why I love this so much – the main things are lightness and gentleness. It doesn’t just get absorbed within moments, without leaving any signs of its presence on the skin, but also hydrates incredibly well. You can ask me with all fairness “But dear, how can you notice any hydrating effect from sunscreen when you always have the Korean multi-layered cake on your face?” Easily 🙂 Once a week, according to the system by a Japanese Cosmetologist Chizu Saeki, my skin usually gets a day off. On that day, I do not apply anything after cleansing, except… my favorite sunscreen gel. So yes, it hydrates the skin very well!

I wear almost no makeup, but for the fans of makeup I can say this – because it’s not visible on the skin, but provides great hydration, it’s perfect for makeup. Under makeup or on top of it. After 20 minutes, the moist look dissipates. There’s no film. No dryness. No white streaks. At all!
I also adore the scent – very gentle and delicate florals that disappear right after application.
I like the size as well – 250ml. Everyone knows that most sunscreens we buy in a large, pretty package that contains about 50g of product. But here we don’t have the marketing tricks. A big bottle is a big bottle. Besides, it is very economical. One pump is enough for the face, neck, and decolletage. Put one of these at home, one at work, and say “no way” to the future wrinkles and age spots.
Unlike many thick sunscreens, this one washes off easily. No foaming cleanser or konjac sponge needed.
All of the products in this line are resistant to water and skin’s oils. Which means they last amazingly.
By the way, the dispenser for this treatment is also awesome.

My skin:
Aging, normal, prone to dryness in the winter and oiliness in the summer, have a few mimic wrinkles.
This product is suitable for:
People with dry, normal, and sensitive skin. For climates that I have already listed. I think it will work well in Israeli winter, but if I’m mistaken, then I’ll let the Israeli ladies correct me.

This isn’t my first tube, and in fact I can’t remember which number it is. The consistency of the product is much more thick than of the gel. This product is even thick for a typical Korean essence. Also gets absorbed quickly, doesn’t cause dryness, doesn’t make the skin oily, doesn’t form a film. And doesn’t leave white streaks. But it needs to be applied 30 minutes before going outside. And not because it looks bad, but to allow the ingredients to get fully absorbed by the skin and form the protective barrier that we are all here to discuss.
Works well with makeup. In the directions it talks about using it “under” makeup, but I use it “over” as well.
The scent is interesting and mild, also evaporates quickly after application.
This essence doesn’t let our skin burn. It has two-layed UV blocking system, which forms a more powerful protection against the sun, preventing sunburn.
For beauty and youth of our skin, the sneaky Koreans “built in” a patented component “Oriental Tea Newplex”, containing 7(!) types of eastern teas, providing powerful protection while hydrating and nourishing our skin.
Other ingredients responsible for skin health are extracts of aloe, cucumber, white mulberry, licorice, portolac and hazel, which carefully take care of the skin, providing it with hydration and nutrition.

Essence

Main ingredients:
– Oriental Tea Newplex (Chrysanthemum, green tea, wormwood, mulberry, persimmon, maurant, cinnamon) – protects the skin from negative effects of the environment and from UV.
– 6 plant extracts (aloe, cucumber, white mulberry, licorice, portolac and hazel) – aids in hydration and nourishment of the skin
– Rose extract – protects the skin against UV
– Tanaka – soothes the skin

This product is suitable for:
For any skin type, including sensitive. For all who need a more noticeable sun protection, without walking around with a white pancake on the face.

And my third favorite is Missha All-around Safe Block Sebum Zero Sun SPF50+/PA+++ , the so-called red-headed stepchild of the family, which I recently criticized in my little blog. But, I didn’t stay mad at it for long – exactly until the moment that summer came and my nose decided that it was going to act no older than 15. With all of the oily consequences of that.

I bought this cream accidentally, while not paying attention, back in the winter. It made my already dry face a thick, white, sad pancake and highlighted nearly every flake. One time during the summer, I ran out of my stores of sunscreens, and I took it out of exile. And then it proved, that one should always read instructions. It fixed my oily t-zone!

Missha All-around Safe Block Sebum Zero Sun is a cream for oily skin This product is, indeed, a cream, Not oily, has pronounced drying effects. It does so right in front of your eye. The scent is delicate just like in this whole ine.
It forms a very noticeable white layer, which disappears after 5 minutes. But the skin tone does look lighter, if you look very closely.
Resistant to water and sweat. Ideal for hot, humid summer months. Suitable for water sports and other active recreational activities.

Other cool things:
– Same two-layer UV blocking system forms a more powerful and long lasting sun protections, preventing sunburn.
– Tea tree leaf and green tea extracts control sebum production, soften and hydrate the skin
– The cream has 100% non-plant based UV, can be used by kids and people with sensitive skin. The cream does not cause irritation or allergic reactions

Main ingredients:
– Tea tree leaf extract – regulates sebum production
– Rose extract – protects the skin from UV
– Tanaka – soothes the skin

This product is suitable for:
For people with oily or very very very oily skin. If you wish to have a matte but lively and moisturized skin even in the middle of a hot summer day on the beach.
